Rosi Cali
85, East Village
My legs are weak now, but
I used to go roller skating, dancing. I used to dance with the band leaders.
I used to dance with my husband, he’d turn me around, I’d
turn him around. We used to have parties on the street – pizza,
soda, coffee, cake. We’d dance out on the street: "Come on
baby! Let’s go!" Everybody said: "There’s Rosie!
There’s Rosie! Come on Rosie, dance!" And look at me now!
I feel alright. I have nice aids, Elsa comes
every day. Then on the weekends I have two or three people that come.
If I have a question that needs to be answered, she’ll tell me.
I’m completely satisfied with everything. I’m not that lonely.
I have eight children, mostly in New York. My daughter lives in the building.
My son bought me this furniture.
Yesterday, a nurse came from the city. She said
that I looked nice and alert, and that I spoke very nice, she was glad
to see me. Then I told her my age, she said: "Rose! It isn’t
so! Your skin, it’s so nice, so pretty." |
