Today's
American Ex-Pats
September 2005
An estimated 180,000 Americans live in France and Spain.
These nine Americans traveled to Europe for various combinations of work,
adventure, school or a better standard of living. In conversation, they
switch back and forth between “us” and “them”
meaning Americans/Europeans not quite sure which group they belong to.
Seeing The United States from the outside looking in, they reflect on
the difference between the American and European press, American foreign
policy, Iraq and what it’s like being an American abroad during
heightened anti-Americanism. |
